Wakeboarding is at the forefront of the latest wave of board sports to capture the imagination. Typical of all board sports you have a sideways stance and it's all about learning new moves as your ability rapidly increases. It comes with a youthful image, its own terminology and even its own line in fashion. You will soon be up and riding and then trying the first of the never ending moves as your ability quickly increases. The riding at JBSki differs from most other clubs and centres in the UK because it is not necessary to take out a membership to get out on the water. You just book in and get out there! You can ride at JBSki on either the Cable Tow or Boat and both can take you from beginner to the very top of the sport.

Boat or Cable?

The choice is just down to how you want to go about these sports.

The Cable Tow offers a really cost effective way to get on the water. It's ideally suited to wakeboarding and the sport is developing rapidly thanks to the easy access a Cable Tow offers. There is always a really friendly atmosphere between the riders at JBSki who, whatever their standard, just enjoy getting out there on the water.

Anyone new to a Cable Tow needs to go through our ski school to ensure they know how to use the Cable Tow safely and to get the most from their time on the water. If you have ridden a Cable Tow before just let our staff know. We have dedicated beginners sessions every day so just follow the link above to find out how easy it is to learn.

If you ride already then we want to make it easy for you to get out on the water so you just need to register with us and then collect your wrist band from reception each time you ride. Cable Tows are so effective because you share your session with other riders (which is a large part of the fun in riding a Cable) and we sell time on the water for which the prices are listed below. We hire out all the equipment but as you improve you will want to invest in your own and we have an on-site shop to help you do this. Whilst the Cable predominantly is a pay and play setup, as on the boat, there is a membership and cheaper session charges available for regular customers.

It may seem odd to ride a Cable, where there is no wake, for a sport with the name wakeboarding. In fact Cable riders generate more height than their colleagues on the boats because you can load the Cable and then use the release of energy to generate some serious height to use for moves. At JBSki we also give you the option of hitting both kickers and sliders as we have one of the most comprehensive set of obstacles anywhere in Europe. We are always improving these and adding new ones to ensure there is a fresh challenge on the lake.

And then there is our regular activity programme, the most comprehensive coaching and rider improvement programme anywhere in Europe. Our aim is to make you a better rider so just take advantage of any of the following:

Kids Club and Development Squad: In the summer on Saturdays and Sundays (plus Tuesdays and Thursdays in the school holidays) the most successful kids programme in the UK that offers a superb introduction to wakeboarding and opportunities to develop skills.

KASA Courses: With such a great range of kickers of sliders on offer you will need to learn the correct and safe way to hit these. We run this course every Thursday night. Anyone going over any obstacles needs the KASA award.

Raley Clinic & Basic Skills Night: Every Monday you'll get the chance to learn that first big air trick as you build up your progressive edge and load on the line to pull that first aerial layout.

Ladies Morning: Every Wednesday just for the girls, coaching and an altogether less intimidating atmosphere with no testosterone on the dock. We encourage your improvement at your own pace.

Coaching Nights: Inverts and beyond every Tuesday. Some advanced coaching for the younger and more experienced riders.

Our Boat Operation offers individual tuition with your own boat and instructor for each session. We want you to improve and become a better rider so we have put in our well tried JBWA teaching systems that guarantee maximum improvement for your time on the water. We also make it really easy for you to get on the water as we run an industry leading on line booking system so that, once registered, you can just log on and book your sessions, even alter or cancel times if your arrangements change. We offer both courses and individual sessions and for regular riders we also offer a block booking arrangement so you can book all your riding at the beginning of the season if you want regular sessions. There is a membership and cheaper session charges available for regular customers.

Whilst you can ride on any of the 3 lakes at JBSki most riders prefer to use St Annes as we have our dedicated Air Nautique wakeboard boat moored at this dock ready for action. As well as the speed control system found on all our boats it has an adjustable wake system through on board tanks so you can work with our drivers to really tune the wake to suit your riding style. It also has plenty of seats so your friends can ride in before their sets on the water.
