2008 FAT FACE KIDS COMPETITION

Once again we saw some great riding; the leap in standard was very impressive. The event was split into 2 categories with an age handicap for the younger riders.

Freddy Carter showed why he is probably the best rider in the World for his age winning the open division impressing us all with Vulcans, Bel Airs and 900’s on the slider among his many tricks. Jack Battleday came second, an OHH (other hand Hoochie) being the best of his tricks with Sophie Cordery the best girl sticking her crypt.

Sam Cordery performed tricks on all the obstacles and off the water, including a grab 180 off the long O’Shea slider, to maximise his score and first place finish ahead of Nathan Gaskinin second and Scott Rosewell (only 9 years old) in third. Nathan had two great runs with a back side 5 on the slider and also got the Best Fall prize, attempting a switch toe side 5 off the kicker which looked more like a Scarecrow. Scott, in only his second year on the water, also won the most improved award with Olly 3’s and 3’s off the kicker. Katie Rowling, still only 11, was the highest placed girl scoring off the sliders, kickers and grabs.

By the end of the summer holidays how good will these kids be? The benefit of our kids club and development squads can already be seen (thanks Mark and Uzma) and now with our Monday and Tuesday evening training with Richie, Ben and Phil watch this space!
